Hey there, guess what? -
We have a new menu!
18 November 2024
After many months of planning, Cherki is finally ready to open a new chapter with a new menu! Our dishes are now centred around the concept of ‘Tok Panjang’, which directly translates to ‘long table’ in Hokkien and Malay.
What is ‘Tok Panjang’?
Meaning ‘long table’ in both Hokkien and Malay, ‘Tok Panjang’ is a hallmark of Peranakan culture, combining Chinese and Malay influences in a festive, family-style feast that promotes togetherness and abundance. Rooted in Singapore’s vibrant culinary heritage, ‘Tok Panjang’ is traditionally reserved for important gatherings and celebrations like weddings, birthdays, and festivals.
At Cherki, our goal is to recreate the warmth and cultural richness of a Peranakan home, offering you and your loved ones a unique dining experience around the “long table.” We envision Cherki as a place where family and friends can connect, share stories, and bond over flavorful dishes that reflect Singapore’s diverse influences.
